Upcoming Community Events
Join the Pembina Hills String Ensembles for a Sunday afternoon concert, The Spirit of Strings, on Feb. 23 at 4 p.m. at the Winkler Mennonite Church. Four ensembles, with musicians from ages 5 to 59 will present well known classics such as Twinkle Twinkle, Dance of the Tumblers, and Tchaikovsky’s Serenade for Strings. The program will also feature recent compositions, including our finale, Fiddler’s Folly, a selection for all of the ensembles combined.
GriefShare is a Christ-centered, faith-based 13 week course designed to help with the grieving process for those who have experienced the death of a loved one. GriefShare is being presented in Winkler by Grace Mennonite Church and meetings will be held at “The Clubhouse” located at 1351 Willow Ridge Place every Tuesday evening at 7:30 pm until May 6th. ATTENTION PARENTS: On February 26, from 7-9 pm, in the NPC Gym, Marv Penner (cpyu.org) will be giving a seminar on Helping Hurting Kids. This is a free seminar (sponsored by local businessmen) specifically for parents working with Hurting Kids. Whether you think you have a hurting kid or not, please Make the time to take in this wonderfully equipping seminar.
Marv Penner is an internationally-known author, professor, motivational speaker, and youth ministry expert. He is currently the executive director of All About Youth and oversees the Canadian Center for Adolescent Research, an organization which conducts research on Canadian youth culture. In addition to his teaching, speaking and writing, Marv is a licensed marriage and family counselor specializing in parent/adolescent conflict resolution, sexual abuse recovery, eating disorders and marriage and family issues.
Can a person praise God by running a cash register? Can we bring glory to God by tinkering and repairing things? Can we bless our creator by pricing things or hanging clothing?
